Crisis Intervention and Helping Relationships

This course offers an understanding of how a crisis can impact the life of an individual and cause a decrease in healthy functioning. A variety of crises are explored, including but not limited to, PTSD, Types of Abuse, Community Disasters, Substance Abuse, Crises of Lethality, Crisis of Loss, and Sexual Assault. In addition, therapeutic interventions and evidence-based practices are identified.

Foundations of Psychology

This introductory course provides a comprehensive overview of the fundamental principles, theories, and applications of psychology. Designed for students new to the field, the course explores the scientific study of human behavior and mental processes, covering key topics such as biological bases of behavior, cognitive processes, developmental psychology, social psychology, personality, psychological disorders, and therapeutic approaches. Through engaging lectures, interactive discussions, and hands-on activities, students will gain a deeper understanding of how psychological concepts apply to everyday life and various professional settings.

Counselling and Therapy Methods

This course focuses on the application and techniques of the four classical counselling approaches namely, Psychodynamic, Person-Centred, Behaviour and Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy approaches. This course will explain the main concepts, therapeutic goals, processes and techniques that pertain to the abovementioned four classical counselling approaches, with an emphasis on the Rational-Emotive Behaviour Therapy approach. It is the aim of this course to equip students with the advanced knowledge and skills of these four classical counselling approaches, and to help them apply these knowledge and skills in case formulation and intervention planning.

Applied Therapy with Children and Adolescent

This module provides a comprehensive overview of the principles and practices of therapy applied to children and adolescents.
